Bed habits: 7 ways to start your day better

Warm, cozy, comfortable. Your bed is a magical place. On a chilly winter morning, who can resist the urge to hit the snooze button? Sadly, dozing under the comforter for a few extra minutes can make you feel worse later in the day.

Don’t worry, though. There’s no need to rush out of bed when the alarm goes off. We’ve got other plans for that bonus time between the sheets.

Meditate. You may be used to meditating upright, seated on a chair or cushion. But, especially when you’re overwhelmed by the day ahead, the corpse position is worth a try. (Careful not to fall back to sleep though.)

Journal. Have a notebook on your nightstand where you can jot down what you remember of your dreams. Keeping a dream journal can inspire creativity and help you gain clarity on real-life issues.

Stretch. Slept in a funny position and now you’re feeling it? We’ve been there. Stretch in your PJs to fend off aches and pains.

Do yoga. You don’t need a studio, or even a mat, to reap the benefits of yoga. Push your pillows and blankets to the side and Namaste in bed.

Have a quickie. Don’t have enough time to start your day with a bang? Sex, on average, may not last as long as you think—and that doesn’t always have to be a bad thing. As if you needed a reason to try morning sex, here are ten.

Have a quickie…without a partner. An orgasm has too many benefits to skip just because you’re flying solo or your partner isn’t up for a romp. Take matters into your own hands and start the day with less stress and a clear head.

Just breathe. Breathing exercises can have similar effects to the Big O. This one will help you gather energy for the day ahead.

Already up and at ‘em? Here are more ways to make the most of your morning.
