Coconut oil: From the bath to the bedroom

Coconut oil is popular for good reason—people cook with it, drink it, use it as sunscreen (or massage oil, or hair conditioner), make soap out of it, and much more. Here are a few of our favorite uses.

  • Mix equal parts coconut oil and baking soda or brown sugar to create a skin scrub that’ll leave your body glowing and smooth. Just be careful in the shower or tub. It can make things slippery.

  • If you shave your legs or underarms, coconut oil can replace shaving cream for a calming, rash-free shave.

  • Add 1 to 2 tablespoons to bathwater for a moisturizing, relaxing bath. Soak and let it sink in.

  • Buy quality, organic coconut oil and use it as lube. All natural. Totally effective. Smells good. Just don’t use it with latex condoms because it can weaken them and cause them to tear.

BTW, if you do use it as lube, make sure you’ve got compatible birth control to go with it.
