Does an abnormal Pap smear mean that I have cervical cancer?

An abnormal cervical cancer screening test, like a pap smear or HPV test can mean a lot of different things—don’t assume it means you have cancer, do be sure to ask your health care provider to explain the results and the recommended next steps completely. Often your body will heal itself and your next test will be normal. Sometimes you will need a more thorough exam of your cervix, called a colposcopy, or a treatment to your cervix directly.

Still not working?

If you haven’t had the HPV vaccine yet, consider getting one now.
