Bite me: Introducing Bedsider’s new aphrodisiac recipe series

Creative. Seductive. Good to eat. These recipes—which all include aphrodisiacs—are meant for two. Whether you make one or all three, we hope you enjoy every delicious detail. (And we hope you stock up on birth control, because this will probably lead to something…if you know what we mean.)

Wicked Watermelon Margaritas
These are ice cold and martini-perfect, but not slushy. You’ll need to freeze the watermelon chunks first for about an hour. Makes 2 margaritas.

  • 1 ½ cups cubed seedless watermelon, frozen
  • ¼ cup white tequila
  • 1/8 cup triple sec or other orange liqueur
  • 1/8 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1 ½ teaspoons sugar
  • pinch kosher salt
  • 2 watermelon wedges or lime wheels, for garnish

Combine all of the ingredients except the garnishes in a blender and blend. Pour into 2 glasses (martini or tall glasses), garnish with watermelon wedges or lime wheels, and serve.

BTB (Bacon Tomato Basil, a.k.a. Back to Bed) Flatbread
Don’t let the garlic scare you. It’s said to awaken sexual desire and if you both eat it, you’ll both taste like it. Makes a single 6- by 12-inch flatbread to share.

  • 5 tablespoons olive oil, plus more for greasing and drizzling
  • 1 cup chopped fresh basil (about 30 large leaves), plus more for garnish
  • ½ clove garlic
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • Flour, for dusting
  • ½ pound store-bought pizza dough, thawed if you buy frozen
  • 10 cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 3 pieces bacon, cooked and chopped
  • fresh mozzarella (optional)

In a blender, blend 4 tablespoons of the olive oil with the basil, garlic, and salt. Reserve.

Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a baking sheet. On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a 6- by 12-inch strip (about 1/8 inch thick). Use a fork to prick holes in the dough. Transfer to the baking sheet.

Coat the dough with the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Sprinkle the basil mixture over the dough. Top with the tomato halves and bacon. Cook for 20 minutes. Drizzle with a little olive oil, garnish with basil leaves, and serve.

One more thing: If you like cheese, go ahead and add 3 slices of fresh mozzarella to the flatbread during the last 3 minutes of cooking for some extra protein. You may need it for your—ahem—work out.

Luscious Banana Chocolate Chip “Ice Cream” with Spiced Almond Brittle
Hey, if you prefer this dish to be dairy free, just use high-end/dairy-free chocolate chips. Bonus: It makes extra of the almond brittle. Serves 2.

  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1 generous pinch cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ cup unsalted roasted or toasted almonds
  • 2 bananas, peeled and frozen
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate chips

In a small saucepan, heat the sugar over medium-high heat and cook, stirring continually, until the sugar dissolves and starts to turn light brown, about 3 minutes. Remove from the heat, immediately stir in the cardamom, cinnamon, salt, and almonds. Carefully pour the mixture onto a piece of parchment paper. Let cool, then chop into chunks.

When ready to serve, slice the frozen banana into 1-inch disks, let sit for 3 minutes to thaw, then blend in a blender until smooth. Stir in the chocolate chips, spoon into two bowls, and garnish with brittle.
