How do hormones affect mood?

Everyone is different and so is their reaction to hormone fluctuations. Studies show that stress and overall health impact mood more than hormones, but some people experience depression that comes and goes with their period. And about 1% have a medically recognized condition known as premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). Higher levels of hormones do not cause these mood changes. It has more to do with how your body processes hormones.

Still not working?

If you want to use a method without hormones, try condoms, internal condoms or a copper IUD.
