2020 open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act health insurance plans runs from November 1, 2019 to December 15, 2019, and you can enroll at healthcare.gov. However, there are 12 states that have their own insurance marketplaces and their own open enrollment dates. If you live in one of these 12 states, you can’t enroll in an ACA health insurance plan through healthcare.gov—you have to use your state’s marketplace to do so. Here are the open enrollment periods for these 12 states along with links to their marketplaces:

  1. California : October 15, 2019—January 31, 2020
  2. Colorado: November 1, 2019—January 15
  3. Connecticut: November 1, 2019—TBD
  4. DC: November 1, 2019—TBD
  5. Idaho: November 1, 2019—December 16, 2019

  10. Rhode Island: November 1, 2019—December 15, 2019
  11. Vermont: November 1, 2019—December 15, 2019
