Women we love: Photographer. Foodie. Mom. Meet Liana

She photographs her kids’ lunches and if yours were this artistic and adorable, you would too. Liana Herman oozes creativity, color, and joy in everything she does. We love her photography (some of it is even on Bedsider) and her attitude.

What do you do? What is your job really all about?
I’m a photographer. Mostly for weddings and family portraits, but I do some commercial work too. For me, photography is about capturing genuine moments in time that reflect how you live and who you love. It’s all about memories.

What do you love most about your work?
Everyone is different—their lives and their happy moments. It gives me joy to give people something they can experience again and appreciate the rest of their lives.

What were some early lessons in your career?
Follow your dreams. Sounds corny, but you have to challenge yourself and put yourself out there. I believe in trying things and seeing what happens.

Which word or phrase do you overuse the most?
LOL (or the f-word).

Best advice you’ve ever been given?
Don’t be afraid to fail. I was a perfectionist and afraid of failure. But that holds you back. You don’t have to be perfect. Just do what makes you happy and stay open because anything is possible.

What do you love?
The little things in life. Tea from Starbucks. Themed play dates. Bright colors. Awesome shoes. Writing on my kids’ lunches with food decorating pens. Cooking with my kids. Reliving childhood through them. I have two sentimental aprons in my kitchen. They’re green and pink and filthy, but I love them too. I take pictures of what I love. It’s all on Instagram.

We get to know so many inspiring women through our work—and all of them are rock stars in their own unique way. (And birth control has helped all of them reach their goals—from family planning to professional pursuits.) If there’s someone you’d like us to interview, send us an email and let us know their name, age, email, and what you love about them.

XOXO,
Bedsider
