I’m a smoker. What birth control options are best for me?
updated almost 4 years ago

Women under 35 who smoke and have no other medical conditions can usually use the pill with reasonable safety, but should definitely talk to their health care provider about alternative methods. Women over 35 who smoke should steer clear of the pill, ring, or patch. Fortunately there are still plenty of other options, like the IUD, the implant, and the shot. Talk to a provider to see which is right for you.
