Say Thanks, Birth Control the best way we know how

As we approach the end of October each year, we become positively giddy. Not only is Halloween coming, but so is Thanks, Birth Control Day (November 18th this year—mark your calendar!). This year we’ve decided to celebrate BOTH AT THE SAME TIME by sharing five birth control costume ideas. Tag us if you make one of these!

We laughed, we cried, we didn't get pregnant

As we gear up to celebrate the biggest holiday of the season (Thanks, Birth Control Day, duh) on November 13th (next week!), we’re looking back at the amazing birth control stories we’ve had the privilege to hear and share over the past few months. From clear emotional boundaries to carefree sex to career highs to much-needed relief from endometriosis, everyone gets something a little bit different from their birth control. But one thing is clear—for many of us, birth control is the GOAT.

The diaphragm is hormone-free and gives me total control

Here’s the thing about using a diaphragm for birth control in 2019: people often think you’re a little out there. That might be because the last time we saw a diaphragm in popular culture was when Carrie Bradshaw of Sex and the City fame got hers stuck inside her vagina and had to turn to Samantha for help to get it out. But even then, in the late 90s and early aughts, diaphragms just weren’t very popular anymore. And yet, I use a diaphragm. In fact, for the past four years it’s been my primary form of birth control—and I’ve never been pregnant. So what is a woman in her early 30s doing using a diaphragm, when there are more popular (and more effective) forms of birth control out there?
